The services Calibre Environmental Services offer are detailed below

Legionella Risk Assessment Services

Any water system, with the right environmental conditions, could be a source for legionella bacteria growth and as an employer, business owner , care provider , landlord, etc. the correct precautions need to be taken and implemented to reduce the risks of exposure to legionella. Therefore under Health and Safety at Work regulations there is a legal obligation to carry out a legionella risk assessment of the water services in any work place or business connected premise.

Calibre Environmental Limited offers a full water services survey and risk assessment report including a comprehensive risk summary and recommended remedial actions including water monitoring requirements where required taking into account the building use and where applicable using the HTM04 Healthcare Guidance for healthcare premises. Our risk assessment reports are delivered in a complete and easy to understand format and we are able to offer further ongoing support, guidance and quotations for the remedial actions and monitoring recommended within the water services risk assessment.

Calibre Environmental limited can also carry out reviews of existing water services Legionella risk assessments whether originally carried out by ourselves or other service providers. These reviews can either be carried out as an onsite desktop exercise reviewing the existing risk assessment document and log book/monitoring records, or to include a re-survey of the original water system surveys.

The Risk assessment or risk assessment review will be carried out by fully qualified and certificated engineer and in accordance with ACoP L8: – Code of Practice and BS8580-1:2019 ‘Water quality – Risk assessments for Legionella control’.

33 Before any formal health and safety management system for water systems is implemented, the dutyholder should carry out a risk assessment to identify the possible risks. The purpose of the assessment is to enable a decision on:

(a) the risk to health, ie whether the potential for harm to health from exposure is reasonably foreseeable, unless adequate precautionary measures are taken;
(b) the necessary measures to prevent, or adequately control, the risk from exposure to legionella bacteria.

34 The risk assessment also enables the dutyholder to show they have considered all the relevant factors, and the steps needed to prevent or control the risk.

2.121  Where monitoring for legionella is considered appropriate in hot and cold water systems, sampling should be carried out in accordance with BS 7592

Sampling for Legionella organisms in water and related materials.33 The complexity of the system will need to be taken into account to determine the appropriate number of samples to take. To ensure the sample is representative of the water flowing around the system and not just of the area downstream of the fitting, samples should be taken from separate hot and cold outlets rather than through mixer taps or outlets downstream of TMVs or showers. Samples should be clearly labelled with their source location and if collected pre- or post-flushing.
